I got back from up north
this evening.

At about 11:30 p.m. 
I finally got around to trying my hand
at another composition.

It is titled 042913a,
because it was started
and finished before midnight.

Am just now getting to post this blog entry,
having just finished bouncing to disc
and then uploading the song.

It is actually 12:30 a.m. on 4-30-13.

I backdated this
because I wanted to
write it before midnight,
but got caught in a "bounce to disk"
for over twenty minutes
as midnight approached
and passed,
so that I would have two posts
back to back with the same date,
if I did not backdate this one.

This post is intended
for purpose of documenting
the date and details ...

I will be leaving for northern California
in several hours.

Should be back Monday evening.

Wasn't sleeping very well,
so I got up at 2:30 a.m.

Wrote 042713a
at about 3 a.m.

I was working on mixing
the instrumental and choral parts
together a little more
than I have been.

I had no idea whether or what to play,
as I once again brushed my fingers
across the keyboard
looking for that sweet spot
that gets me going.

I finally found the key I like,
which turned out to be E minor.

But I had no idea whatsoev...

The demagogue succeeds

Just finished sketching out
the following piece,
entitled
042113a.

It is really kind of frustrating to me,
because I can very vaguely remember
a melody which I wrote for strings
about 15 years ago.

I was trying hard to remember it,
so that I did not develop the melodies
as much as I might otherwise have.

But, that is not necessarily a bad thing.

It is a little after 10 p.m. on this Sunday evening.

I am very tired.

Very long day.

But very good day.

Although not terribly productive.

But, hey, wait a minu...

I wrote this song,
042013a
at about 11:00 p.m.,
this evening.

Has been a long day.

And week.

Am very tired
and going to bed.

Ran out of steam.

That is why song is shorter than usual.

But, also more pithy,
to make up for that.

Hope all is well
this Saturday evening.

At about 10:30 this evening
I began writing this song,
entitled 041913a.

It is in one of those dreaded major keys,
which I am so disinclined to play in,
most of the time.

Hey, but every once in awhile
even I have to play in major keys,
just to remember how.

I get a bit of a kick out of my natural
and very strong
resistance to the various
common compositional forms.

I stick with the Fantasia,
almost exclusively.

That way I have free reign
to do just as I please
at any given moment.

I seem to somehow...

It is almost 12:30 a.m.

I wrote this song
at about 11:30 p.m.

Is titled 041813b.

Scorched earth
and twisted landscapes.

It all began in the land of Mordor,
near Mount Doom.

There is just something so NOW
about that landscape
and concept.

I just can't seem to
get it out of my head,
as the last several compositions
so well attest.

Tonight I decided to go with D minor.

It is a favorite key of mine
to compose in.

Too much so.

So that I actually avoid writing
in it as a primary key.

But, it is just so perfec...

It  is 2:15 a.m.
on Thursday,
4-18-13.

All is quiet
from where I sit.

I went to bed 
at about 9 p.m.
and then  woke up
at about 12:30 a.m.,
ready to go,
and thinking
that the sun is about to come up.

Ooooops.

Not so.

No point in laying
while flipping and flopping
all over the place.

So I got up.

I have listened to way too much music
during past several weeks
(editing),
so that I am badly burned out.

So, what to do? 
what to do?

I sat down at keyboard
and began to play with it
but did not like anything ...

It was about 11 p.m.
and I am getting ready for bed
(to lay awake
and wonder
why I am laying there)
when I decided to write a song
to test the new template some more.

I changed some of the parameters
to emphasize different sounds.

I decided to write in the key of D major,
again.

I have always liked that key
for string writing.

Lots of strings here.

And strengthened the choir a little.

So, here we go ---

I am in the midst of making
some new sound templates
for synthesizer music.

In this case (041313c)
I have piled 8 synthesizers
on top of one another.

Four of the 8
are dedicated
to male and female choir.

The other four to
aetherial synthesizer sounds
and harp.

I wrote this at 11:30 p.m. last night,
but was way too tired to convert it
and post it.

So I rested for awhile
before completing tasks.

I started work again at 4 a.m.

It is now almost 4:30 a.m.

I felt the same way
about the second half of 032213a
as I did about
the first five minutes of 031813a.

So, the sound editor in me came out
and whacked off the offending material.

Must get on the road.

Just finished with a business meeting, 
changed back into my street clothes,
and am heading north
on a whirlwind round trip tour.

It is windy and wild out, right now.

Should be exciting.

Let's just not hope too much so.

I have been writing for choir and organ
during the past several months.

As can be seen with some of my earlier work

I will combine the various different movements
together in different ways
when it seems beneficial.

from the first moment that I heard it.
